Pony Tails Candy Store is Chincoteague's one stop shop! Come in for our famous homemade salt water taffy, coined "Pony Tails", because of the resemblance of the taffy shape to the tails of Assateague Island's famous ponies. Stock up on our delicious made-in-house creamery fudge, handmade chocolates, gummies, and novelty candy that will take you back to your childhood. We also feature jewelry, home decor, toys, the largest plush pony collection on the Shore and great gift items for all ages and every budget. 

Opened by the late Ralph and Lois Daisey and sold in 2006 to the Dolle candy making family from Ocean City, the original recipe of Pony Tails salt water taffy is still used and the flavor offerings have been expanded as well. Having the taffy puller out in the open back in the day was a favorite of longtime customers, but with the increased volume of the taffy sold, the required building codes and the need to provide a safe, sanitary location for highly specialized candy manufacturing, the machine was moved to the Dolle’s manufacturing facility in Ocean City.
